Blackfoot artist Stone Akin created this incredible one-of-a-kind gourd bowl using a homegrown gourd. The compelling image of a buffalo dancer was meticulously burned into the face of the gourd by hand and then painted over. This is a beautiful example of traditional Native American Indian gourd work by one of the finest artists working with gourds today. This beautiful genuine handcrafted bowl measures a robust 10" wide, has a 5" opening and is 9" tall. Stone grows his own gourds, cleans them and then burns and paints the images all by hand using traditional tools and techniques in honour of his Native American ancestry. This particular bowl took almost 40 hours to complete, not including the growing and cleaning process. This beautiful piece also has genuine leather handstitched around the opening. These one-of-a-kind items make astonishing home decor items and are beautiful heirloom quality gift items. Signed by the artist.
