Blackfoot artist Stone Akin created this incredible one-of-a-kind gourd using a homegrown gourd. The traditional images were meticulously burned into the face and neck of the gourd by hand and then painted over. This is a beautiful example of traditional Native American Indian gourd work by one of the finest artists working with gourds today. This beautiful genuine handcrafted gourd measures approximately 8" at the widest point and 17 1/2" tall with an 3 1/2" opening. Stone grows his own gourds, cleans them and then burns and paints the images all by hand using traditional tools and techniques in honour of his Native American ancestry. This particular gourd has genuine leather hand stitched around the mouth. These one-of-a-kind items make astonishing home decor items and are beautiful heirloom quality gift items.
