This is a vintage sterling silver authentic Hopi overlay pendant and chain set circa 1965-1970. The Hopi created the overlay technique that utilizes two pieces of sterling silver. The top piece has the image cut out and is then fused onto the lower piece and heated. This heating creates the contrast in color. Vintage Hopi pieces are increasingly rare as they are finding themselves in private collections and museums throughout the southwest and in many cases simply lost to history. This is an incredible opportunity to own a unique one-of-a-kind piece of vintage authentic Native American Indian jewelry. Measurements: 2 1/4" tall and 1 5/8" wide. The chain measures 27" in length.
