Blackfoot artist William Dill uses traditional wood carving techniques to create the basic shape of each of his incredible works of art. However, all detailing is done by burning the wood with precision torches. This incredibly difficult and very time consuming method is what brings his works of art to life. This amazing bust of a Native American man was carved and burned from a solid piece of a baswood. Taking over 40 hours to complete, the face, and particularly the eyes, capture an entire people's spirit and resolve. This is a one-of-a-kind work of art by a master Native American artist. Measurements: 8 3/4" total height including 1" base by 4 3/4" width, measured at the shoulders. Signed by the artist.
