Descendant of the Comanche, Bob Wright's work is a statement on the timelessness and eternal significance of even the most seemingly common objects of nature, our everyday lives and of the human spirit itself. He's spent over a decade creating the series of statues he calls "Immortelle." The title refers to a flower that may be dried without losing its form or colour, making it everlasting, making it immortal. You'll notice that every statue has a beautiful rose, grown by his mother and dried by Bob himself as part of the overall design. All the pieces are made of found objects, from coins and vintage buttons once belonging to his grandmother or mother to pieces of jewelry he used to wear. He also uses pieces of driftwood, feathers, logs he has found as well as antlers, bones and anything else that captures his artistic spirit. The faces are made by a very unique process by which he first sculpts a face out of clay. Then takes a mold of the face using hydrostone, which is a composite of plaster of paris and concrete. He then uses that mold to make these relief images that create depth and the ability to see "into" the image. NOTE: These are all consignment items and as such do not qualify for any special or discounted pricing. Also, because of the value, size and weight of each of these pieces, we can not offer free shipping. What's more, they can not be shipped through the usual means.
